Knowledge Capital

In current society, besides the traditional factors of production - earth, capital and work - we found another that has been the differentiating - the knowledge - that has attached more value to the organizations. This factor considering intangible has perfect concept since the 80's decade, when Sveiby classified the intangible assets in three categories: the consumer's capital, structural capital and human capital or intellectual. We believed that today, the model that best represents the Knowledge Capital Group are: environmental, structural, intellectual and relationship.

The environmental capital can be defined by several aspects and characteristics that are identified in organization area. All the values, legal and government aspects, climate, geography, and other, should be considered.

For this definition it is possible to understand, as some companies possess larger development than others, when they are in a more favorable atmosphere to its business.

The structural capital is summarized in the necessary structure to the companies work. They are administrative systems, softwares, marks, patents and the buildings.

Of all those factors, the form of performance of the organizational structure is that has been influencing with more impact the wanted results.

The intellectual capital treats people's knowledge that is in an organization. Different from the structural capital, it belongs to the individual, but the effective use of this potential, has the power to generate value for the companies and for the people.

The difficulty of the organizations is to get to transform the tacit knowledge (that regarding the people's individual experience) in explicit (that one can be find in books and lectures), in way to join value to the products or rendered services.

The relationship capital can be understood as facilitator for the other capitals, once its treats of the relationship-key for the business of the company, it could be individual or institutional. Motivating the relationships and the strategic alliances the companies starts to win more.

The interaction between the capitals and the recognition of the importance of the same ones should be considered in certain occasions the existence of a larger relevance of a capital to the detriment of other. This way, the treatment given to each one of these capitals needs to be adapted their specific characteristics.
